Taking on the Kremlin
From Guatemala to Nigeria, Toronto lawyer Robert Amsterdam has tried cases in some of the world's most lawless and corrupt nations. But he's never felt as discouraged as he has since joining the defence team of Russia's most famous prisoner — oil tycoon Mikhail Khodorkovsky.
"Honestly, I'd rather be fighting this case in Lagos than in Moscow," Amsterdam says. "I think we'd have more of a fair chance."
